Audi Pre Sense Warning Light: What It Means
The safety-assist light that means pre sense is temporarily off.

What pre sense does
Pre sense uses the front radar and camera to watch for a likely collision. If it sees one, it can warn you, pre-tension the seat belts, and apply the brakes. When the warning light is on, that automatic response is disabled. You keep full manual control of the car.
Audi pre sense
The pre sense safety assist is temporarily unavailable. Clean the front radar and camera; if it stays on, scan for faults.
Why it comes on
- A dirty front sensor, camera, or a blocked radar behind the grille
- Heavy rain, snow, or fog
- ESC or stability control switched off, which pre sense depends on
- A stored fault in the assist system after a repair
How to reset it
Make sure stability control (ESC) is on, then clean the front camera and radar area. Once conditions are clear the message usually clears itself. If pre sense not available stays on in good weather, the system needs a scan and possibly a camera or radar recalibration.
Your questions answered
Why does my Audi say pre sense not available?
The front camera or radar cannot see clearly, often from dirt, weather, or ESC being switched off. Clean the sensors and turn ESC back on.
Is it safe to drive with the pre sense light on?
Yes. Your normal brakes and steering work fully. Only the automatic pre sense assist is paused.
How do I reset the Audi pre sense warning?
Turn ESC on, clean the front sensors, and drive in clear conditions. If it stays on, have the assist system scanned and recalibrated.
